Nicholas roared. His tone was deep, unnatural.
“I am Lord Nicholas, the demigod of all Lycanthropes,” he growled.
“And?” Reznik shrugged.
“Now you’ll see that your powers are no match for mine. I am a god. Worship me.” Nicholas grinned.
“Is this supposed to scare me? The only really scary thing is your face.”
“May the best warlock win. No weapons needed, only our natural abilities.”
“So now it’s a dick measuring contest. Very well, asshole.”
Reznik stepped to the side.
“You… won’t win. You’ll lose and I’ll still have Azura. I will finish off Lucifer and Cody after your demise.”
“And if your daughter chooses to disobey ever again, the next time I’ll make sure to BREAK HER FUCKING NECK.”
Fire blasted and funneled toward Reznik.
Flames scorched and dispersed, searing his arms.
Okay, mother fucker. It’s on now.
Another stream of fire shot out.
Thrusting up his fists, Reznik blocked the spell.
The next few doses of magic weren’t as easy to avoid, and Reznik’s energy was running low.
If he wanted to gain the upper hand, he would have to defeat the demigod and defeat him swiftly.
Exhaustion drained his speed and resolve. If he didn’t act soon…
Reznik closed his eyes, concentrating.
The beast stumbled back, weakened. “You can’t defeat me,” Nicholas raged.
“I already have.”
God, don’t prove me wrong.
Nicholas recoiled from the sizzling electrical currents.
The mighty demigod vanished into twirling clouds of dust.
Finally Reznik could breathe again.
But was it really safe yet? No.
He went over and cradled Azura. “C’mon, we have to go. We have to get out of here now. Can you stand up?”
“I think so,” she mumbled. Reznik carefully helped her up. Azura leaned against him until she was ready to walk.
They exited the bedroom.
“I know this seems pointless but I’m going to do it anyway.” Reznik plunged the dagger into the guardian’s neck.
He’d been dead for so long that he didn’t even bleed.
“You never know if the dead are really dead,” Rez reflected.
“I hear you.” Azura massaged her neck.
Reznik worked his magic, hoping Cody would quickly regain consciousness.
He couldn’t be any more anxious to get the hell out of there and get to safety.
Cody floated up and migrated, his legs diffused with miniature rainbows.
His eyes snapped open as Cody dropped to his feet. Strangely, his original clothing materialized.
He cried out in a very dramatic display of emotion.
“Azura! Are you alright?”
“Yes,” she rasped. “Barely.”
“Lucifer? Are you okay?” There was no answer to that one.
Confused, Cody looked this way and that. Then his eyes found his father’s.
Reznik was the unforgiven one. Until now.
“Thank you for saving my sister.”
Rez nodded. “Nicholas is dead. They all are.”
Azura leaped at her brother and they lowered to their knees, embracing.
Soon Reznik joined them.
It was an awkward but sweet group hug.
A door creaked on its hinges. Lucifer peeked out.
“Thank God y’all are okay… and, uh, I need some clothes.”
“Lucifer! You’re okay?” Azura asked and started to look. Lucifer ducked behind the doorway.
“Wait—I said I needed clothes. And yes I’m okay, even if my head and spine feel like they’re fixing to rip apart in a thousand different places like a scarecrow made of straw getting caught in a tornado. I guess drinking all that blood earlier helped keep my joints together. Thankfully.”
In the end, Reznik told his brother to shift back into the white wolf.
Lucifer wasn’t happy about it.
“Please tell me you can feel the baby move?” Cody asked Azura.
“No. I can’t.” Her gaze lowered to the ground as she shook her head.
It was sad. However, they were lucky to be alive. Azura could have more children. Reznik, Lucifer, Azura, and Cody could never be replaced.
Not even with magic.
“I love you Cody.”
“I know. I love you too, sis.”
“I love you, Uncle Lucifer!” Azura suddenly beamed. Lucifer barked.
“Dad? What are you doing back there?” Cody asked.
“Nothing.”
Cody, Lucifer and Azura glanced back. A figure stood at the front doors.
Lauren mouthed Reznik’s name.
She’d been in the mansion the whole time and hadn’t done a damn thing to help. Nothing.
Lauren hadn’t even bothered to help her own daughter, or semi-adopted son Lucifer. All she seemed to think about was Reznik.
She’d lost her fucking mind. It was now quite clear to Reznik and the others.
God forbid should she return to the Haas Estate. There certainly was nothing keeping her in Lunira any longer.

Thanks for reading. Sorry about the shitty quality of those GIFs. I tried a different site for the last GIF, and it turned out to be shit as well.
Also I finally got the very last chapter finished (147). It will have over 100 screenshots and 3,000 words.
Chapter 145 will be posted tomorrow, January 21.
