Sixty-Eight: Wrath
Contains harsh language, POV switches, nudity. Seriously, there are a ton of F-bombs in this one. I apologize to always be using that word, but it’s needed in this one since things get out of control…
“Let me in or I’ll break the fucking door down!”
“Vaclav, I’m telling you. Now is not the time. You don’t understand.”
“Open it.”
Hunter rubbed his head. “I can’t open the door right now.”
Kat slipped beneath the bed.
If Dad finds me, I’m dead.
Vaclav punched the door in. It flew across the bedroom.
He stepped inside.
God, Kat thought. Please don’t find me!
She heard her father’s footsteps. It was only a matter of time before he looked under the bed.
Shit! I think my feet are sticking out!
Quietly, Kat edged backward.
Oh, no!
Vaclav strode across the floor, dangerously close to the bed.
“Kat? Are you in here?” A few seconds later he called, “Hunter? Where the fuck are you?”
Kat’s heart stopped.
Oh, God…
“So help me. You better not be underneath here,” he muttered.
Displaying a horrible look on his face, he peered down at her feet.
“Dear God. You really are down there.”
“Sorry, Dad.”
He stood back up. A low rumbling came from the adjoining bathroom. Like a growl.
“Hunter?”
Curious, Kat rolled over to look.
In an instant the door flung open.
Hunter stood behind it. In his other form.
“Okay,” Vaclav said. “You want to play this game?”
Hunter snarled.
“Come and get some, you hairy fuck face.”
“Here doggie, doggie.”
Hunter crept toward him, then lunged.
“Wait—stay. Stay!”
Hunter plowed into Vaclav and knocked him to the floor.
Kat watched them, disbelieving what was happening.
“Kat! Get some blood before this thing tears out my throat!”
Hunter growled as he wagged his tail, pawing at Vaclav’s face.
“Hurry up, goddammit!”
She tossed open the fridge and struggled to find the blood.
Shit! Where is it?
Finally she found it. Kat raced back to the bedroom.
Stunned, she dropped the pack on the floor. Blood exploded.
Hunter nipped one side of Vaclav’s neck, and then worked his way to the other side.
The beast bit down. His head wrenched back and forth.
“Hunter! No!”
Now he was facing her and baring his fangs.
“It’s me, Hunter. You remember me. I’m Kat.”
She took a step back, nodding at the blood on the floor.
Please. Just drink the blood.
She glanced at her father.
Thankfully he managed to get up. He would be okay, despite that huge gash in his neck.
He glared down at the wolf.
“Don’t you dare fucking hurt her.”
Kat’s gaze altered between her father and Hunter.
Hunter tentatively approached her.
The blood. Drink the blood, her mind pleaded.
The wolf lowered his head near Kat’s feet. Then he lapped up the blood.
Relief enveloped Kat. But it wasn’t over yet…
Hunter shifted back.
“You need to leave,” Vaclav told Kat.
“Why?”
“Don’t argue with me! Just leave!”
“Okay!”
She exited the room but lingered around the corner.
Whenever she felt brave enough, she peered in.
“Why did you turn into a wolf?”
Hunter pulled out a dresser drawer, rummaged for some clothes.
“I forgot my injection last night,” he said. “I’m sorry. I fucked up.”
Hunter started dressing.
“That’s not the only thing you fucked up on.”
He spun around and headed for Vaclav.
“If you’re fucking my daughter, I’m going to fuck you up,” Vaclav warned.
Suddenly Hunter called Kat’s name.
He turned. Using one finger he beckoned her. Kat looked at her father, and then ventured back into the bedroom.
“Uh, yeah?”
“I love you, Kat.”
Uh-oh. She nervously glanced at her father.
Hunter grabbed her and pulled her in for a hot kiss.
Instead of closing her eyes, she watched her father, along with the expression of anger on his face.
Anger that was swiftly simmering to a boil.
“Okay. You can GET YOUR FUCKING PAWS OFF MY DAUGHTER NOW.”
“You can’t control her for the rest of her life, Vaclav. It doesn’t work that way.”
“It works that way in this family. And I swear to God I’ll kill you if you touch her again.”
Glaring at Vaclav, Hunter reached out and touched Kat’s arm.
Dread overcame her. She knew they were going to go at it… at any time.
For what seemed like hours, the two vampires glowered at each other.
And here they go.
Both shifted to fighting stances, fists poised.
“What’s wrong, Hunter? Still hurting after losing Aubrey?” Vaclav mocked. “Foolishly trying to replace mother with daughter?”
Hunter threw a punch.
Stifling panic, Kat fled the room and raced to her mother’s bedroom.
“Mom, wake up!”
“Dad and Hunter are fighting!”
Aubrey rose from the bed, her eyes wide.
Their fight had escalated. Bloody lacerations marred their faces.
Vaclav swung, Hunter ducked. Then Hunter clocked him on the jaw. For a moment Vaclav reeled.
Once recovered, Vaclav reared back and drilled Hunter in the gut.
He doubled over.
“Stop fighting!” Aubrey yelled. Neither man acknowledged her.
However, it was already over.
“Are—you okay?” she asked as Hunter walked by.
“Terrific,” he mumbled.
Vaclav passed his wife and daughter without speaking one word.
He collapsed on the living room sofa.
Kat went to her bedroom. The audible sounds of her parents’ fighting drifted from the other room.
“You and Hunter both need to be locked up!” her mother raged.
“Hunter needs to be locked up for screwing our daughter!” her father ranted.
And sadly, Hunter never even touched me.
Kat stood up and got dressed. Soon nighttime would come.
When it did, Kat was startled by the slamming of the front door.
“Hunter!” she cried. “Where are you going?”
He didn’t answer. Just kept walking toward his car.
“Hunter? Why won’t you answer me?”
She didn’t know what was worse. The silence or the sad look on his face.
“Kat, I don’t know if this can work between us.”
“What do you mean?”
“You know. It’s Vaclav, it’s the fact that I’m too old for you, it’s… everything. Not to mention I almost hurt you earlier.”
“No,” she sobbed. “You said you loved me just a few hours ago!”
“I do love you, Kat.”
“Then why?”
“I told you why.”
“I’ll be staying at a motel, but I’ll come back to give you your treatments.”
Oh. Well that’s a load off.
“I hate you, Hunter.” Nausea rose up inside her. She heaved a few times.
His right arm curved around her, tugged her close to him.
“Everything will be okay,” he softly said.
“No it won’t. It’ll never be okay.” Her body trembled next to his.
Kat couldn’t watch him leave. She went back into the house.

A lot more convincing indeed. Kinda reminds of this show I used to watch as a kid, where the people were always hiding out in the shower. It was hilarious. The show was ‘Three’s Company’. :p 🙂 Sometimes both the guy and a woman would hide behind the shower curtain, but with their clothes on of course.

Thanks for stopping by at Spellbound… I wanted to have something posted by the last weekend… but the story I planned out didn’t look right and there was really no progression in the actual plot… so I thought ‘nawww this is weak’. And now I’m all stuck. Great!
Which brings me to my question. Do you have things already played out for Bloodlust, like little story boards of what you will have in the next chapter? Or you just let everything flow as things happen? I know have a rough outline with where I’m gonna take Liam but I feel stuck on the details. I keep thinking… that’s too much give away… or that’s not necessary… or that’s too early to say…

Aw, it’s no problem. I love that story. 🙂 so you have the dreaded writer’s block? Maybe you’re just being too hard on yourself. I’ve made at least a FEW chapters that didn’t really progress the plot on my stories (and plan to do more, like unneeded sex scenes XD). I think as long as the scene is interesting or funny, it doesn’t really matter whether or not it progresses the story, IMO. If you’re too picky on yourself, you WILL get writer’s block. That’s why I’ll never write any more novels, they’re more trouble than they’re worth, and just not fun anymore because of all the ‘writing rules’ and shit.
Yeah, I outline nearly everything before I do each chapter. It just makes it easier on me. Then when I’m stuck, I go back and read it again. It’s best to write down your ideas anyway, so you don’t forget. I do this for all the main plot points, and then anything minor (usually) I let those flow into the story as I think of them. All I know is, you don’t want to give out too much info too early in the story, just let it progress more naturally, if that makes sense. And just slowly reveal things as time goes on with each chapter. That keeps readers guessing and coming back for more (not that I’m an expert LOL). But I still think you’re worrying too much. You have a great story so far, so I’m sure it’ll keep being great. 😀

Somehow when Hunter told Vaclav that now was not a good time, I knew he was going to change into wolf form. Silly Vaclav should’ve listened, and then not antagonized the wolf. Clearly something he’s learned after uttering “No wait! Stay! Stay!” Which made me laugh my ass off.
I’m kinda torn between Hunters actions. I was so proud of him for admitting his feelings for Kat in front of Vaclav, and then pissed when he decided to leave. I suppose Hunter doesn’t know what to do with himself either, he loves a girl whose parents hate him and who he shouldn’t touch until her birthday.
Perhaps he’s just leaving until then. Until she is considered legal. Then he can finally whisk her away.

lol, so true about the teen girl thing. I remember being that age, and how horrible it was. Couple that with being over-emotional anyways, and you have a ticking time bomb. LOL.
Oh, no I didn’t think it sounded sarcastic or anything. Just makes for a better story, if people don’t know what’s gonna happen. Although I have a bad habit of giving out clues, haha. Well it’s hard to get so much stuff packed into a story (like suspense, romance, etc.) I try to get suspense in mine whenever I can, but a lot of times I get stuck on doing the romance.

Lol, it’s sooooo true! I love writing romance. I have two great plots for both my stories romance wise, and I’m no where close to being able to write them. They just happen too far away 😦 Oh well. Gives me time to perfect them.

Cool, you made it to the wolfie chapter. This is one of my fave chapters of this story, lol (even though I wrote it myself… ). You weren’t the only one who found that part funny! I laughed as I wrote it! XD Hunter definitely had balls to do that in front of V. Poor Kat felt uncomfortable though. Hunter shouldn’t have put her on the spot like that, really.
