One Hundred and Thirty-Nine…

One Hundred and Thirty-Nine: Buying Time

Once one commits a royal fuck-up, one must remedy that royal fuck-up.

Even powerful warlocks weren’t infallible.

“Hey Dad.” Reznik’s voice was low with trepidation. Anticipating his father’s imminent tantrum.

“Okay, this is what happened.” Rez went on to explain his royal fuck-up. He left out certain details, like Lauren’s new-found affection for Reznik. He only explained that Lauren had a bad case of amnesia due to the spell.

Vaclav: “And what do you have planned to remedy this situation?”

Reznik: “Uh. You’ll need to give me some time to figure that out. I need a way to reverse the spell, or at least the negative effects.”

Vaclav: “Hurry up.”

Reznik: “I will. But you’re pushing me and that won’t help this situation. I can’t be pressured into doing it or it could backfire even worse.” He sighed. “Otherwise Lauren seems to be doing okay.”

Vaclav: “Hmm. That’s all good and well.”

“Yeah. So I’ll keep you updated on what’s going on. Okay?” He felt Lauren’s breath on his neck. Her fingers playfully tickled his side.

Oh God. He squirmed, fought off intense laughter.

Vaclav: “Very well. Make sure you call me every few hours or less.”

“Yeah sure. Bye.” He clicked off the cell, detected some movement in his dick as Lauren stroked his crotch.

Fuck. I’m so screwed.

Reznik took her for a walk. He explained what happened to her memory, and the events which led up to his casting the enchantment.

Of course he had no intention of mentioning the sexual assault. He simply made up a bogus scenario and told her she’d been attacked years ago by some random vampire, which gave her PTSD. Gradually he brought up the fact that she’d fallen in love with Vaclav, and they’d had a child (Lance) together.

Lauren digested each extraordinary event. Rez was under the impression she was shocked about everything. She didn’t say much.

He also told her the reasons why she was living with Nicholas, minus the fact she wished to stay away from Reznik.

And when she returned to the Ashworth Estate, Reznik encouraged her to take a few Valium.

She didn’t protest.

Where’s Mom? I haven’t seen her in several hours.

Azura drifted into thoughts of her mother and the things she’d recently told her: ‘I caught Nicholas with Millificent. They were—you know. Nicholas told me she was his other wife. I thought you should know.’

Was Azura truly supposed to give a rat’s ass that Nich was already married? No. She didn’t give a shit. Why should she? She wasn’t in love with Nicholas.

Azura was still in love with Brent Novak. Unfortunately.

As for Nicholas, he was an idiot.

Speak of the devil. Nicholas strolled through the doorway.

“Your father is here. He’s going to stay a while with Lauren.”

Disbelief rose to her throat, constricting like a wire around her neck.

“Screw my dad. If he’s gonna stay, I’m staying the hell away from him.” Though a small part of her was curious as to why he was staying.

“Regardless, I trust Reznik more than your grandfather. On the other hand, if he displays any hint of dickery he’ll be out.”

“Fine. I don’t care. I don’t want to see him anyway.” Her throat tightened further as she fought off tears.

“What are you doing?” she asked when Nicholas drew near the sofa.

“I’m going to sit next to my wife.” And he did.

“Sure. The wife you forced into marriage. The girl her father gave up for Shadowvale’s welfare.”

He looked at her. “Would you rather the war continued?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know what to think. I gave up a long time ago trying to make sense of everything.”

“Indeed. My belief is that logic reasoning is utterly irrelevant in this life.” He winked. Her brows furrowed.

“You seem to be feeling better of late,” he added. “Are you?”

“I guess. I don’t remember much about the last week or so. All I remember is our wedding, and I keep thinking about a room. A red room. But that’s all I remember.” She shook her head.

“Perhaps that’s all for the best. Our minds have a way of forgetting trauma. It’s quite a miraculous phenomenon.”

Trauma? She tried to connect all the puzzle pieces in her head but they refused to fit together. Confusion was the only conclusion.

“Are you ever going to trust me?” he asked. “Will you ever give me the chance to love you?”

“No.”

“I’m not that bad. I’m not evil. Why are you afraid of me?”

“I don’t know you. How the hell am I supposed to trust you? You forced me into marriage. I was tricked by those I loved.” Do you have any idea how much that hurts?

“My dearest Azura, I’m not the one who played such tricks on you,” he said. “I merely received what your family offered.”

Azura scowled. “Don’t play innocent. You were behind the whole thing.”

Nicholas chuckled but grew deadly serious.

“Let me kiss you.” He smirked, eyes sparkling with lust.

She shook her head.

Nicholas leaned over. So close she could almost taste him… his lips, face, and run her fingers through his shimmering blond hair.

Azura shoved him away.

Nicholas gazed at her as time slowed down to a miserable crawl. She squirmed.

What’s he gonna do to me? I swear I’ll kill him.

Nich dropped to her throat. She couldn’t help but be pushed down by the sheer force of his body. His tongue scraped her neck, lapped like a hungry predator. He sucked hard. Pressure mounted so much it hurt. Hot air escaped his flared nostrils due to rapid breathing.

His groin nailed the area between her thighs.

Nicholas smelled good, an alluring musky aroma.

Azura felt his penis swell and harden.

A rapid throbbing started inside the opening that Nicholas wanted to plunder so badly. And if he kept up the licking, sensual touching and intense movements, she may just LET him stick it to her.

He withdrew.

“Don’t—” she began. I haven’t felt this sexual in forever. I haven’t felt this incredible desire, these feelings consuming my whole body. Not since Brent Novak.

“Don’t what? Stop?” Nicholas slowly ran his tongue over his upper lip as he grinned and unzipped his pants. Teasing her.

Her lips trembled. She closed her eyes, shutting out the image of his erection. Confusion weaved webs inside her mind.

Confusion. Confusion.

“If you truly want me, then prove it. Otherwise stop wasting my precious time.”

Her dress wrapped around her hips and exposed her underwear. The head of Nicholas’ cock buried into the crease of her panties, tapping the cleft.

“Get out. I’ll never give you what you want,” she muttered. “I’ll never give you the satisfaction.” God, I want you so bad. Feel every solid inch of your dick inside me. Banging.

I will suffer. I’ll stifle my desire for as long as it takes until I can escape this house of horror.

Bad boys. Always my weakness. I am my own worst enemy, next to temptation and submission.

The time came for Mila’s examination.

Hunter Logan was performing a sonogram to check for anomalies and general health of the unborn.

This time nothing was going to keep Lucifer from seeing Mila or his baby on the computer screen.

Nothing.

His father loomed around the corner. Lucifer would not be intimidated.

“I’m going in to see her, Dad. I have a right to be there while she’s being examined.”

“Go in.”

A short, curt answer but certainly the answer Lucifer wanted.

So he bounded to Mila’s room, flung open the door.

“Hey there. How are you doing, baby?” Excited, he dashed to her bedside.

“Hey Lucifer. Aside from the morning sickness and my sides aching, it’s okay. I also have to pee.”

Lucifer snickered. He also noticed her expanding, sloped tummy but decided not to mention it. He knew girls were hyper sensitive about their bodies.

“I explained to her the reason why her sides ache,” Hunter said not taking his eyes off the monitor. “The baby’s growing very rapidly, causing the ligaments to stretch around her expanding uterus.” He slid the ultrasound thingy all over Mila’s stomach.

“So that asshole finally let you see me?”

“Yeah. Finally.” His blue eyes narrowed as he shrugged. “I would’ve come in anyway.”

She smiled, a warmth radiated from her crimson lips and blushed her cheeks. She looked so beautiful. Lucifer wanted to take her into his arms and kiss her so badly.

Hunter pressed down on the sonogram stick. The fetus, resembling an alien, kicked and squirmed on the monitor as if it disliked the pressure.

Lucifer couldn’t stop looking at the strange being on the screen. Couldn’t believe that thing was living inside Mila. Yet it was fascinating at the same time.

“Does it look okay?” Lucifer asked Hunter.

“I don’t see two heads or anything,” Hunter said.

Mila blanched. “Bad joke.”

“Yeah. Sorry.” He moved the plastic stick again. “Ten fingers. Ten toes. Looks normal to me.” Hunter smiled but still didn’t look away from the screen.

His smile faded.

“You sure everything’s okay?” Mila questioned. Hunter nodded.

“I can’t believe that’s our baby on the screen.” He shook his head in amazement. “It’s so weird, Mila. Me and you? Having our own kid?”

“Yeah. I’m already in love with her. I can tell she’s going to be gorgeous.”

“Or him.” Lucifer winked. She stuck out her tongue.

“I’ve done all the measurements, so the baby’s around the size of a 20-week fetus. Like I said it’s growing very fast. Even for a dhampiric pregnancy.”

“But that’s okay, right?” Mila said.

“I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about. Lucifer’s one of a kind, which means his offspring could grow at a different rate than others.”

“I also know the baby’s sex.”

Mila and Lucifer glanced at each other.

“I have to know,” Lucifer demanded.

“I want it to be a surprise!” Mila gave them a threatening look.

“Then I’ll only give a hint,” Hunter said. “The baby actually does have two heads.” He roared with laughter.

Lucifer slapped his hands together as a huge grin spread over his face.

Mila pouted whenever Hunter left the room.

“Aw, come on. You know you’ll love a boy just the same,” he said.

“It’s not really that. I’m wondering when Vaclav will let me see you again. We’re going to be parents soon. He can’t keep us apart much longer, can he? Will he?”

“No. He can’t.”

“I’m so sick of living like this. I feel like a hostage or some shit,” she groaned. “And I miss you.”

“I know. I miss you too.” His eyes lowered a second. “I have a good feeling Dad will stop being such a dick about all this.”

“I hope you’re right.”

He smirked. “I know I’m right, baby.”

Lucifer crawled onto the bed and crept toward her.

“I’m gonna touch your little bump… that little bump that came from our many humps,” he teased. She giggled.

“It tickles when you do that.” She fidgeted, adjusted her hips.

His fingers brushed her belly. One side grew slightly larger than the other and Mila’s skin jumped.

“Holy shit. It’s moving—he’s moving,” Lucifer said. He poked her stomach again. Once more her flesh quaked.

“Of course it’s moving, silly,” she said. “Anyway, I’m still worried about your dad. When is he going to accept the fact that we’re together and plan to stay that way?”

Lucifer sighed, gathered her up and held her close. Her head rested near his shoulder.

“I told you it’ll be okay.” He stroked her tummy and marveled at the baby’s fluttering. “I think Dad’s going to wise up soon.”

If nothing else I have a plan that might help…

In case any of you are wondering, I never use ‘personal’ ultrasound pictures in this story. I find sonogram images on public sites like WebMD and such.
